Abstract

Proper management of large-scale projects especially oil, gas and petrochemical projects is the main concern of stakeholders. One of the most important issues in this type of large-scale projects is the “Closing” stage of project, particularly in “Engineering” part. The role of accessing to engineering documents and drawings at the “operation and maintenance” period cannot be neglected and this issue is completely related to appropriate closing of engineering part of project. Engineering activities of the project consists of two parts "designing" and "engineering of manufacturers”. Both have their own importance and in the end of project must be complete and correct. This article is presented based on the case study outlines and it tries to clarify the standing of proper closing of engineering in petrochemical projects.

Abstract

According to the acceleration of Iranian petrochemical industry and the creation of new petrochemical hubs in the last three decades, developing “Master Plan” for these hubs shall be considered as a critical subject. Some problems in supplying of feed and also utilities, and the lack of the balance in the type and volume of products as a value chain issue in some new petrochemical plants illustrate that “Master Plan” study should has been done at the beginning stage of these petrochemical hubs installation. This paper presents the report of expert committee established in NDEC to review a Master Plan issues for new petrochemical hubs. The current situation of petrochemical industry related to petrochemical hub concept and the necessity of developing Master Plan for petrochemical hubs is explored and explained in this paper. Petro-refineries idea as one of the topics should be covered in Master Plan study is considered as well. In the end, more details about Master Plan in terms of data inputs and main outputs are provided.
